General information – Piotr Fryczkowski, MD, PhD
Piotr Fryczkowski, MD, PhD, graduated from the Medical University of Warsaw, formerly the Medical Academy of Warsaw (diploma obtained in 1993). He received his first degree of specialization in 1997 at the University of Warsaw and the second degree at the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education in 2000. He also finished the European VitreoRetinal Training School in Bremen, where he was trained under the guidance of Dr Klaus Lucke, a renowned ophthalmologist of Augenklinik Universitätsallee. Next he took an exam in the clinic and became a specialist in vitreoretinal surgery. In 2006, after presenting his PhD dissertation and taking exams at the Medical University of Warsaw, he obtained the degree of the Doctor of Philosophy. Prof. Jerzy Szaflik, MD, PhD, an experienced national consultant in the field of ophthalmology, was his supervisor. In 2004 Dr Fryczkowski established his own medical practice – Retina Eye Surgery. Since 2012 he has been running his own Retina Eye Hospital. He is a regular participant of scientific conferences and conventions, where he exchanges experience with ophthalmology specialists from all over the world. He also regularly attends the Silesian Retina Convention, a conference organized in Katowice. He was also a participant of the 11th International Plenary Scientific and Training Conference – Alcon Glaucoma Forum "Contemporary Trends in Diagnostics and Treatment of Glaucoma Neuropathy."
Dr Fryczkowski conducts ultrasonography trainings for ophthalmologists from the whole Poland who want to improve their qualifications in eyeball ultrasonography. He also shares his experience by preparing medical handbooks, which are used by consecutive generations of ophthalmology specialists. He is a member of the Regional Chamber of Physicians and Dentists in Warsaw. Apart from the above, he is also a member of other renowned medical societies: the Polish Ophthalmology Society and the European VitreoRetinal Society. He spends his leisure time writing children's stories.
Dr Fryczkowski has achieved a lot in his professional field. He is a laureate of the Polish national competition for performing vitrectomy at the Central Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration in Warsaw; he also won a competition for conducting an eye ultrasound. His vast knowledge in the field of ophthalmology is to be attributed to his regular participation in specialized trainings and internships which include, among others, the course of advanced retina surgery at the Duke University in North Carolina. He also trained his skills in Paris, where he expanded his knowledge of the application of I-Care anterior chamber phakic intraocular lenses. He attended the 11th European VitreoRetinal Society Meeting, a convention organized at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Malta.
One of his greatest achievements was organization of the cataract surgery ward at the Attis hospital in Warsaw. It was also at that time that he took the position of an independent microsurgeon simultaneously at Attis and another Warsaw institution – the Central Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration in Warsaw. Another remarkable accomplishment was publication of the first eye ultrasonography handbook in Poland. His knowledge, talent and professionalism have been acknowledged not only by ophthalmology specialists, but also by patients themselves, which was confirmed by an honorable distinction in the National Medical Contest "Patient Laurel."

Dr Fryczkowski specializes in microsurgery. In our clinic he also performs vitrectomy surgeries, helps patients suffering from cataract, as well as those with retinal detachment. He performs glaucoma laser surgeries, treats diabetic retinopathy, and also treats sight deficiencies with the use of lasers. Apart from that, he performs surgeries of retinal degenerations due to diabetes and vascular disease complications. He also does eye ultrasonography in which he has been specializing for over ten years.
