General information – Andrzej Lekstan, MD, PhD
Andrzej Lekstan, MD, PhD, has a specialization in general surgery which he completed in 2011. A year later he received the academic title of Doctor of Medicine based on his dissertation entitled „Comparison of activity and concentrations of metalloproteinases 2 and 9 and their TIMP inhibitors in pancreatic adenocarcinoma and chronic pancreatitis”. He defended his thesis at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. Since 2003 he has been working as an assistant, and since 2011 he has been a senior assistant of general surgery at the Department and Clinic of Gastrointestinal Surgery of the Medical University of Silesia.
He is an author of numerous publications and he belongs to a scientific medical association. Currently he specialized in vascular surgery, deepening his knowledge in this field under the supervision of Professor Cierpka in the Department and Clinic of General, Vascular and Transplantological Surgery of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice.
Among a wide range of professional interests of Doctor Lekstan there are also issues regarding vascular diseases (especially venous diseases), gastrointestinal tract diseases, especially regarding pancreas. Apart from this, he commits a lot of attention to the subject of breast diseases and vascular diseases subject to surgical procedures and problems of patients with malnutrition.
Doctor Lekstan operates two offices – in Katowice and Jaworzno.

Andrzej Lekstan, MD, PhD, specializes in general surgery. He conducts surgeries on varicose veins of the lower limbs, closes vascular spiders by sclerotherapy, using laser and tradition methods.
He is also involved in minimally invasive treatment of venous ulcers of the lower limbs using platelet rich plasma. He conducts laser treatments of onychomycosis. He removes birthmarks, warts, fibromas and lipomas. He corrects scars and removes benign breast lumps.
He also conducts diagnostic punctures and biopsies of lesions under control of a USG apparatus. He provides USG examination services as part of house visits (at patients’ homes) within the Silesia Voivodeship.
