General information – Agnieszka Siennicka, MD, PhD
Dr Siennicka has conducted ophthalmology procedures since 1997. She initially worked as an assistant lecturer at the Ophthalmological Teaching Department and Clinic of the Poznan University of Medical Sciences (formerly the Medical Academy in Poznan) under the guidance of Prof. Krystyna Pecold, MD, PhD. She had been mastering her skills and, over time, became an independent researcher. She became an ophthalmology specialist in 2004, after taking an exam at the Medical Examination Centre in Łódź. She obtained her second degree of specialization at the Poznan University of Medical Sciences. In 2005 she defended her PhD dissertation – with Prof. Pecold as her supervisor and the person whom our specialist considers to be her ophthalmology mentor. She is a member of the Regional Chamber of Physicians and Dentists in Warsaw, and also runs her private Ophthalmology Office Focus.
She currently provides ophthalmology lectures at the University of the Third Age. Teaching is a great pleasure to her. As she emphasises, she tries to explain the core of the issue in a simple and understandable manner, and to present all possible treatment methods. In her private life she is a mother of two (Michał and Tosia). Contact with other parents and their children motivated her to expand her knowledge on pediatric ophthalmology.
For Dr Siennicka ophthalmology is not just a profession, but also a passion. She likes to both teach others and expand her own knowledge. She used to conduct ophthalmology classes with Polish and English-speaking students, as well as nationwide courses on eyeball electrophysiology intended for physicians learning their specialization. Currently she regularly runs nationwide courses on ultrasound scanning for ophthalmologists who want to raise their qualifications in the area of eye ultrasonography. She has also attended many national courses and trainings, and has taken part in internships offered by foreign universities, among others in Belgium (Liège) and in Germany (in Kiel and Tübingen). She is also a regular attendant of national and international conferences and scientific conventions. In 2011 in Poznań, she took part in the 21st Conference of the Strabology Division of the Polish Ophthalmological Society under the guidance of Anna Gotz-Więckowska, MD, PhD. In 2012 she participated in the 30th Retina Symposium (also in Poznan). In the same year she also took part in the 2nd International Conference "Controversies in Ophthalmology" in Karpacz.
