Medical tourism - a price comparison of dental services in Poland and around the world
Dental procedures are remarkably popular among patients who increasingly get dental treatment outside their home country. The number of people going abroad to save on dental treatment is increasing. And medical tourism focused on dental treatment even has its own name - dentourism.
Dental treatment abroad is becoming increasingly popular. In particular, the British, Irish, Belgians, Germans and Danes often search for low-cost dental services in other countries as prices of dental services are usually very high in their home countries. Meanwhile, in Poland, the Czech Republic, Tunisia, Slovakia, and Hungary, the same procedures can be a lot cheaper while maintaining the same standards of treatment. The most popular treatments are implants, root canals, teeth whitening, and restorations, such as crowns, veneers and dentures.
Cheap, cheaper or more expensive...
In the US, porcelain crowns are particularly expensive; such a procedure can cost up to $2000. In Great Britain, the cost of treatment is about $1000. However, there are countries where treatment prices are even lower: in Portugal and the cost is $700; in Cyprus and Spain prices are around $500; and in Hungary, Croatia, Latvia and Poland, about $400.
Root canal treatment of one canal in the US, the UK, and Germany will cost about $350; in Malaysia, Panama, and Portugal the cost will be $250; while in Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, and Poland prices are around $150. There are some countries where the cost of root canal treatment does not exceed $100; clinics in Serbia, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Latvia have extremely attractive prices.
